Extracts from a creative life
The mountains are calling ..
Lives in a van. Bimbles with a camera. Often pointing his pixel box at scruff. Has been known to run long distances. Would consider cake as a form of payment.
Recovering.
21st June
The legs are weary from a few consecutive days of hiking in the Jura Mountains. This area is stunning, and only a foretaste for what’s to come as we hope to explore the Swiss and French Alps as well as the Dolomites. On the way back to the van my eye is pulled towards the upside-down and I’m reminded that there are opportunities to make images all around; I just have to be open to see them.
24th June
Another hot few days behind us. The heat dome showing no sign of abating. At least the temperatures drop a little up at our 1000m altitude to make sleeping a little more bearable. The evening light is stunning, albeit short lived, but I’ll take those tiny moments when I can.
26th June
Huge thunderstorm had us ducking for cover and moving to a slightly less dangerous spot overnight. Awoke to slightly cooler conditions, morning light streaming through the wild flowers.
Met with an ex work colleague today who showed us around what is now is backyard. The little X100T capturing tiny moments of light bouncing around the valley.
More distant rumbles of thunder, but thankfully tonight they remain in the next valley along.
30th June
Into Switzerland for a few days so the photography for the foreseeable will be mountains, and goodness me they are stunning. Wispy clouds breaking up the bluebird sky - perfect for a spot of black and white photography.
Later, parked up at the end of Lauterbrunnen valley, the earlier rain has cleared, leaving behind some incredible conditions just as the sun sinks below the horizon. New waterfalls, low hanging mist and wonderful atmospheric mood. I’m as happy as I’ve been with the camera in a very long time.
The week that was (26th Jul - 1st Aug)

Thanks so much for allowing me a few moments of your time. I hope you have enjoyed my words and images, and if so a quick share amongst your own community will help spread the word.
And if you really enjoyed it you can even consider throwing a few pennies into the tips jar. It helps most with diesel costs for the van to keep me on the road making images.
Until next time .. Happy Pixels …

Hey, small world! We were in Lauterbrunnen on the 24th of June. (Man was it hotter than we expected when planning the trip, even though I had a feeling we’d end up in a heat wave in Switzerland. I didn’t expect it to be THAT hot though.)
We had planned to take the train and cable car up to Murren and hike down but there was work being done on that line so we went up to Wengen instead.
I really love all your shots! I haven’t edited mine yet. I’m almost there. But I did get through a hike we did down to Engelberg from Brunnihütte a couple days previous to Lauterbrunnen and …. was a bit disappointed in what I captured in the heat, sun and muggy air. So I am very happy to enjoy your beautiful shots. Of Switzerland and beyond 🤩!!
Great photos!
