A wonderful selection of absolutely gorgeous pictures! This was my mum and dad’s favourite part of Scotland (a country where we often holidayed), and I have inherited their love of it, as well as that of being surrounded by mountains.
When you wrote “simply being amongst those peaks can [be] and often is enough for my soul”, my heart jumped for joy, as this is exactly why I moved to the Lake District! I may not be able to summit Wainwrights as I did in my youth (when they weren’t known as such): but just being in the shadow of, say, Pillar, provokes more joy than most things. It feels like living in paradise!
